This was the first cartoon I tweeted that seemed to strike a chord. I’ve mentioned the inequities of the grant system elsewhere and maybe one day will flesh this out into something more coherent. Regardless of how well it works, all of us in academia are trapped in it. Looking at now, a lot of my cartoon ideas follow a similar process except I take the place of the reviewer hiding in the reeds.

Like a lot of my early cartoons that were primarily just black ink, I’d like to find time to go back and do a colour version. Given how long it has taken me to overhaul this website that’s unlikely to happen any time soon.
